Plauge News – For teenagers, social media can be a source of violence.
This was conveyed by the Social Development and Pediatric Expert, Dr. Braghmandita Widya Indraswari M Sc Sp A (K).
“They’re friends with anyone, so they’re freer of friendship. They’ve never even met, know on social media, continued kopdar, even though they haven’t met at all who he is,” he said on IDAI’s Instagram broadcast, quoted on Sunday (20/3/ 2022).
Through there, Widya said there were many cases that ended in violence. Because, someone who is known on social media is often different when he is in the real world.
Therefore, Widya said that parents need to supervise their children.
Making friends on social media is allowed, but you need to be careful about where your child is going. However, proper communication is required.
“Because if it’s forbidden, they don’t want to talk, and openly. We want to protect, they actually feel that we prohibit and restrict too strictly,” said Widya added.
Therefore, it is necessary to discuss with children especially those who are growing up to understand the dangers. Parents should provide more information.
“Don’t ban everything. They must be careful in providing information. Youth discussions are not short in time to provide sufficient information and need to be continued,” concluded Widya.
