Selling IPhone Without Charger And EarPods, Apple Claims To Save US$6.5 Billion

BEIJING – Apple has just released a new report on how it saved billions of dollars from iPhone sales without bringing accessories such as chargers and EarPods to consumers.

Apple claims it could benefit from removing two items including by making the packing box smaller, allowing 70 percent more devices to fit into a shipping pallet.

Thus, more boxes means Apple can ship more iPhones at once.

According to Gizmochina, Tuesday (15/3/2022) the reduction of these two iPhone accessories also reduces annual carbon emissions by 2 million metric tons.

But according to a Daily Mail report, Apple may have saved around £5 billion after removing the charger and EarPods from the box which roughly saved about $6.5 billion.

In other words, Apple may have removed the basic accessories from the box to make up for the cost of the new 5G modem in its iPhones, particularly in terms of reducing the size of the iPhone box, also meaning the company could reduce shipping costs by about 40 percent.

Additionally, Apple is now receiving additional revenue from customers who purchase EarPods or AirPods and chargers separately.
